I was very excited when I opened this box and saw it contained 6 bags of freeze dried apricots. I quickly opened a bag and handed one to each of my family members. They are cut into halves, and they have a very strong vitamin powdery smell that is not so pleasant. I still proceeded to take a bite while not breathing through my nose, and the taste was not great at first but once it starts to get moist, I could taste the sour apricot. However, it did leave an after taste in my mouth I didn't care for. My husband and daughter couldn't even swallow their bite, and my son forced himself to swallow his. I didn't give up though! The next time I tried one of the halves, I chopped it up into smaller pieces and mixed it in with my yogurt. The smell was more faint and tolerable, but the flavor was much better. This will be the way I will be able to eat the rest of my apricots. I would love to save some and bake them in a loaf of sourdough, but I have to wait until my oven is replaced. I hope to give an update once I make the loaf. Overall, these are not a snack that you can indulge in straight from the bag.
